The first book "The Cellar" was quite good and suspenseful, but it went a bit downhill from there. The second part of the trilogy "The Beast House" had its moments, but the third and longest "The Midnight Tour" was lacking suspense and horror...at least in comparison to the other two. It is a pity though, because Laymon managed to quite nicely incorporate the background story of the previous two books into the story-line of "The Midnight Tour".
